Roberto Firmino makes return to Brazil squad as Liverpool trio called up – Liverpool FC

With the September internationals looming and Brazil having confirmed their 26-man squad for their next two friendlies, there is room for Roberto Firmino.

The first and only international break before the World Cup immediately follows Liverpool’s trip to Chelsea on September 18, ensuring that the relentless schedule continues for international players.

Brazil will face Ghana (September 23) and Tunisia (September 27) in two friendlies this month, both played in France, which will reduce the miles traveled for players residing in Europe.

Tite named his squad on Friday, with Alisson, Fabinho and Firmino confirmed as part of the 26-man squad.

The Liverpool number 9 recently spoke of how he was “eager” to find out his fate without playing for his country since July 2021, but his wait is now over.

Tite chose Firmino, who has three goals and three assists so far this season, along with Neymar, Vinicius Jr, Raphinha, Richarlison, Antony, Rodrygo and Matheus Cunha.

Alisson, meanwhile, will have Man City’s Ederson and Palmeiras’ Weverton for company in the goalkeeping department, and Liverpool’s No. 1 may find himself in one game and not the other.

Tite has not been shy about rotating his goalkeepers in recent internationals, but Alisson has started eight of the last 11 internationals.

Fabinho has appeared in Brazil’s last 10 matches and started six, with increasing influence for his country, although Liverpool hope he managed accordingly during both of his friendlies.

Just return them in full health, please!
