It is with some sadness that Merseyside is likely to receive the news that Roberto Firmino will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.
The Brazilian has been an integral part of the Reds’ revolution under Jurgen Klopp, but in football as in life, all good things must come to an end.
With Sadio Mane long gone, Firmino’s decision to leave the Anfield outfit will mean only Mo Salah will remain in Liverpool’s incredible attacking triumvirate. A trio who scored or assisted on 399 of the Reds’ 611 goals between 2017 and 2022, according to the Daily Mail.
Clearly this season, though, something went wrong with Klopp, and Firmino is a player who has seen his time on the pitch reduced.
At 31, the player is nearing the twilight of his career and still needs to play regularly.
Perhaps with that in mind, he made the decision to leave after learning about Klopp’s plans for him next season.
According to 90min, it became clear during negotiations with Firmino that he would again not be getting as much playing time as he had hoped.

In the end, it seems to have been an easy decision to make.
