Report reveals how much power Paratici wielded at Juventus

In recent days, the prosecution has been disseminating some wiretaps collected in the investigation related to alleged financial irregularities at Juventus.

While these revelations include all sorts of comments and statements made by current and past club officials, all fingers are pointing towards one person: Fabio Paratici.

The current Tottenham manager worked at Juventus between 2010 and 2021 and apparently enjoyed a free reign in his final three years in Turin following the departure of his former mentor Giuseppe Marotta.

So how much power did the former sporting director really wield at Juventus?

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport via JuventusNew24, Paratici had the authority to sign any player independently if the price did not exceed 25 million euros.

However, if the player’s transfer fee was between 25 and 50 million, then the director needed the signature of Vice President Pavel Nedved, who recently resigned, along with his own.

For a transfer of between 50 and 75 million, Paratici needed the stamp of the former Juventus president, Andrea Agnelli, while any operation that exceeded 75 million had to be approved by the board of directors.

Now surely Agnelli and the board reserved the right to weigh in on major transfers, however it appears Paratici had enjoyed a free reign, if the report is to be believed.

After all, the vast majority of the transactions carried out by the club were transactions under 25 million, and the controversial director had the ability to carry out these transactions without the approval of any higher authority.
