Report: Juventus add Brighton’s Estupinan to fullback shortlist

Whether it’s in January or in the summer, Juventus will eventually bolster their ranks with full-backs on either flank.

So while the main discussion right now centers on the right-back, a report from England claims that the Bianconeri are monitoring a Premier League left-back.

According to the English press via Calciomercato, Juventus is aware of Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan, who is currently appearing for Ecuador in the World Cup.

The 28-year-old started for the South Americans in their win over Qatar in the opening game and also in their impressive draw against the Netherlands on Friday.

Estupinan is also enjoying a good campaign at Brighton, who have been one of the Premier League’s main dark horses so far. Roberto De Zerbi’s men currently sit seventh in the table.

Juventus fans may remember the left-back from last season’s doubleheader against Villarreal in the Champions League round of 16.

The full-back had a brief stint with Udinese between 2016 and 2017, and has been plying his trade between Spain and England for the past five years, representing the likes of Osasuna, Watford, Mallorca and Almería, before moving to Brighton last summer. .

Juve FC says

The Ecuadorian has a contract with the Gaviotas until 2027, so it is unlikely that they will offer La Vieja a discount if he knocks on the door.

Perhaps a free agent like Alex Grimaldo would be a better option given the circumstances.
