Report: Empoli set to prematurely end the loan stint of Juventus flop Pjaca

When Juventus shelled out €30m for Marko Pjaca’s services in 2016, they surely didn’t envision a season as tough as even a worst-case scenario.

The Croatian striker was at the time one of the most sought after youngsters in Europe, but his time in Turin has been nothing short of disastrous.

The 27-year-old has been bouncing from one loan spell to the next since 2018, Empoli being sixth.

Sadly, his time in Tuscany hasn’t been inspiring so far either. Since the start of the campaign, he has only managed to make seven Serie A appearances, most coming from the bench, and has yet to directly contribute a single goal.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via TuttoJuve, Empoli will most likely end Pjaca’s loan in January and send the player back to Juventus.

The source also expects the Bianconeri to start looking for a new suitor who is willing to sign the Croat, as has been the case for the last five years.

The report names struggling Sampdoria as one of the possible candidates, having tried to sign Pjaca on more than one occasion last summer.

The winger has a contract with Juventus that runs until 2024 and had hoped to return to Dinamo Zagreb in August.
