Report: ECA extend olive branch for Juventus following Agnelli’s resignation

Before the controversial announcement of the European Super League project in April 2021, Andrea Agnelli was at the time the president of the European Club Association, in addition to his role as president of the Juventus board of directors.

The ECA is an organization made up of the biggest clubs in European football, which operates hand in hand with UEFA.

As is logical, Agnelli had to immediately resign from his position in the organization after the creation of the Super League, a project that he has firmly defended ever since.

Due to the club’s stance, Juventus were no longer welcome in the ECA, and PSG president Nasser El-Khelaifi succeeded Agnelli in office and joined the UEFA-led witch-hunt against the bianconeri and the other rebels (Real Madrid and Barcelona).

But according to the Daily Mail via Corriere dello Sport, ECA is now ready to extend an olive branch to Juventus following Angelli’s resignation from his role at the club.

The source expects El-Khelaifi to send an invitation to Juve’s new CEO Maurizio Scanavino at Friday’s board meeting.

Juve FC says

If the report is to be believed, then this will be an opportunity for Juventus to return to the goodwill of UEFA.

Now surely this is not to suggest that UEFA and the other global organizations are flawless, but it is becoming increasingly obvious that the Super League is a battle Juventus cannot win, especially in our current weak condition. Instead, it will likely create more misery at the club.
