Rene Mulensteen backs Marcel Sabitzer’s move to Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United manager Rene Meulensteen believes the signing of Marcel Sabitzer will prove to be shrewd business on the club’s part.

As reported in the Daily Mail, Meulensteen praised the deadline move for the Austrian international.

Sabitzer joined United on loan until the end of the season from German champions Bayern Munich.

Meulensteen applauded the club for acting so quickly in the market following the news of Christian Eriksen’s injury.

“I think it’s a very quick and astute reaction from Manchester United. He can do all kinds of things. I think he is definitely a very, very smart signing.” he said.

The former United manager went on to say that while Eriksen will be missed, Sabitzer will provide excellent cover.

“I am a big fan of Christian Eriksen. It’s a big foul for United, but for them to act so quickly and bring Sabitzer on loan; he must have been somewhere on the radar with the club or with Erik ten Hag before.” he said

Meulensteen went on to say that he feels Sabitzer will be a great fit at Old Trafford, with his experience and versatility.

“He’s in the Ten Hag mold. He is a winner, he is a versatile midfielder”. he said.

Sabitzer’s high-energy style will certainly be a huge asset to Ten Hag after injuries to Eriksen, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay have left him short in the middle of the park.

United face a packed schedule with the club continuing to battle on four fronts in what promises to be an exciting second of the campaign.

Ten Hag expects Sabitzer to start running and could be in line to make his United debut in the weekend’s league match against Crystal Palace.
