Referee admits he made a mistake in the World Cup final

Referee Szymon Marciniak has now revealed that he made a mistake during the World Cup final between Argentina and France.

The South American giants managed to beat the defending world champions on penalties to clinch the World Cup trophy, but there were a number of controversial moments in the game.

Marciniak was accused of leaving Lionel Messi’s second goal of the match standing, despite the fact that the Argentine bench jumped onto the pitch when the goal was scored.

The Polish referee showed that it was also a similar case with Kylian Mbappe’s goal and the France players were already on the field when Mbappe was in the process of converting his chance.

However, he believes that he was wrong to decide to stop a French counter-attack, after a foul by Argentine defender Marcos Acuña. Marciniak believes that he should have played with the advantage and that such mistakes often occur in a game of this magnitude.

However, he was relieved that there were no major errors by the referees in the game.

“Of course, there were mistakes in this final,” said Sport.PL.

“I interrupted the French counterattack after a bad challenge from Marcos Acuña.

“I was afraid that the player who fouled would want to vent, and I misread that because nothing happened, and you could give up and then come back with a card. It’s hard. In a game like this, I take such a mistake in the dark. The important thing is that there were no big mistakes.”
