Reece Mould is Confident He Will Take Down Hamed Ghaz

Reece Mold is convinced that mixing with top class opposition in the past will help to ruin Hamed Ghaz’s undefeated record.

The VIP Boxing star jumps two weights to face his fellow Yorkshireman at Doncaster Racecourse on Saturday 8th October with the vacant IBO Continental and English Lightweight titles up for grabs, LIVE and FREE on SportystuffTV.

Mold (15-1, 6 KOs) is a former English featherweight champion and his only loss came in a British title challenge last year against Leigh Wood, the current WBA world champion.

Ghaz (18-0, 4 KOs) has been a pro since November 2014, but most of his fights have been four and six rounds.

Mould, who also has the hometown advantage, said: “I won the English title and boxed Wood for the British.

“I have been with much better opponents. “No disrespect to Ghaz, but he just hit the officers. “It was difficult after the loss of Wood, but he has helped to see what he has achieved since then. I showed that I can compete at that level, Ghaz hasn’t shown it yet.

“I had moved up to super featherweight and we got the call to fight Ghaz with two belts on the line, so we took it. “I’m pretty big at weight, I can punch at lightweight, so it won’t be a problem.

“He’s fought at that weight for a lot longer, but I don’t think there’s much in terms of size.”

“The last big fight was against Wood, so it’s good to be back there. If I get a good win here and knock him out, I’ll show what I can do even at lightweight.

“When I get through this, I just want a big fight at super featherweight or lightweight, I’m not too worried.”

Since losing in the ninth round of a close fight against Wood, Mold has defeated Cristian Narvaez and Josue Bendana on points.

He added: “I don’t do this for money. I’m fine in that sense and I don’t have those worries. Boxing for the fight and the right titles.

“I don’t take jobs on short notice. I want to give myself every chance to win a fight. “We’ve had decent offers, but it’s the call three weeks in advance to fight Anthony Cacace. No problem, but give us a camp.

A second title fight will be another Yorkshire battle as Leeds warrior Zahid Hussein (16-2, 2 KOs) takes on old rival Razaq Najib (12-4, 2 KOs) for the vacant super bantamweight title. English.
