It looks like it will be a busy summer for Real Madrid. They have been linked with a large number of players now. Now, it looks like they will face arch-rival Barcelona in the Benjamin Pavard transfer window.
According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in the Frenchman. Benjamin Pavard has been a regular for the Bavarians but could be sold next summer.
The Bundesliga giants have already signed Noussair Mazraoui. The former Ajax defender has given the Frenchman some tough competition. Thus, Bayern Munich is also open to selling the defender.
Pavard’s contract expires in 2024. Next summer he will only have one year left on his contract. Besides, the Bavarians look for spare parts for the French.
Reinforcements on the right side for Real Madrid and Barça
Both rivals of El Clásico need reinforcements in the right-back position. The whites currently have Dani Carjval as a right-back. The Spaniard has not been at his best in recent times.
It has been inconsistent and there is no real competition for the right-back spot. Real Madrid only has Álvaro Odriozola and Lucas Vásquez as substitutes. Although they can get the job done during the season, in the long run, Los Blancos will need to strengthen that area.
As for Barcelona, Héctor Bellerín and Jules Kounde are their right-back options. Bellerinis is no longer in the best shape of him. The Spaniard has struggled to be injury-free of late.
While Jules Kounde is better as a centre-back. That is the position for which he was signed by Barça. Therefore, Benjamin Pavard will be a nice upgrade for both clubs.
Benjamin Pavard the story so far
The Frenchman burst onto the scene at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He was the right-back for the French team that won the World Cup. Pavard’s goal against Argentina at the 2018 World Cup was also voted the best goal of the tournament.
A good show at the World Cup earned him the transfer to Bayern Munich. At the Allianz Arena he has won all the club’s trophies. He was also part of the Bayern Munich team that won the treble in 2020. He, too, has won three Bundesliga titles so far.
It is also important to note here that he is only 26 years old. She hasn’t reached her best form yet as well. At such a tender age, she has already gained a lot of quality experience as well. Also, considering that he has already played for Bayern, he is well equipped to handle the pressure of playing for a big club.
Where it ends up in the summer, however, remains to be seen. Both Spanish giants also have other areas to focus on. Besides, there will be other clubs that would also be interested in him.
