Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a surprise transfer move for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate.
The France international has performed well since moving to Anfield a year and a half ago, but it looks like the Reds may now face a fight to keep him.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of Konate and wants president Florentino Pérez to bring the 23-year-old to the Bernabéu.
It is even suggested that work has already begun behind the scenes to complete this foray into Liverpool, which will certainly be a concern for fans of the Merseyside giants.

Konate has his best years ahead of him, so Liverpool would do well to keep him as Virgil van Dijk’s long-term successor, rather than cash in on him now.
