Manchester United suffered a 6-3 loss at the hands of Manchester City.
United sank to hat-tricks from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, who were superb in the game.
As well as losing as a result of a chaotic first-half performance, United supporters will be worried as they await news of Raphael Varane’s injury with bated breath.
The centre-back came off in the first half after he was unable to recover from an injury he initially sustained during the process.
Varane went down with a painful injury after trying to block a ball from Phil Foden.
While on the ground, City did not put the ball out of play and continued to attack despite repeated calls from United players to stop play for the player to receive treatment.
While the opposition did not score directly at that stage of the game, their attack resulted in a corner from which Haaland rose higher and guided the ball into the back of the net.
Varane, who during the course of the corner kick was waiting on the touchline to be able to enter the game, saw Christian Eriksen mark the Norwegian, a contest the Dane failed spectacularly.
Under normal circumstances, the French international would have been the one to keep the City striker at bay.
The 29-year-old was replaced minutes later by Víctor Lindelof, who joined Lisandro Martínez.
It is still unclear what injury Varane suffered and how long he could be out if it is a serious problem.
In case of being out for a long time, his injury will mean the return to the side of Harry Maguire or Lindelof. Hopefully it’s nothing serious and will be available for the next game.
