Rangers have defied UEFA by playing the English national anthem ahead of their Champions League clash with Napoli tonight.
It is the first game of the Scottish team since the death of The Queen -with whom they have a strong bond- and after the minute of silence out of respect for his death, Ibrox sang the English national anthem after it was played by the stadium’s loudspeakers.
UEFA has banned British teams from playing the national anthem before Champions League games tonight, an order Rangers chose to ignore.
Players, staff and fans observed a minute’s silence followed by the national anthem in tribute to the Queen before the Champions League match between Rangers and Napoli.
