It is the fifth time Liverpool have faced the Amsterdam giants, and the 17th time the club have faced a team from the Netherlands in their history, having also faced AZ Alkmaar, PSV Eindhoven, Utrecht and Vitesse Arnhem in competitive matches.
There is also a strong Dutch heritage at Anfield, with some of the Reds’ biggest players in recent years hailing from the Netherlands.
