If Liverpool are to win the Premier League title this season, Diogo Jota must be a mainstay in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.
That’s the verdict from Robbie Mustoe, who has heaped praise on the Portugal international following his goal-scoring return to the team on Boxing Day.
Our number 20 had missed the last eight games due to a muscle injury, but recently sealed the three points against Burnley with a good finish after coming off the bench.
Mustoe has claimed that Klopp is still trying to figure out his strongest side, but believes the former Wolves man should definitely be in the team.
“I feel like Liverpool are still trying to find their best team and, for me, Diogo Jota has to be in it,” Mustoe told NBC Sports (via Rousing The Kop). “His numbers are much better, he has been injured, he is a scorer, he is a very good player, a versatile player.
“They haven’t figured out who their best midfield is yet. [Ryan] We saw Gravenberch a little bit today and we have seen other players with some changes in midfield today. “If Liverpool can find an even better formula and stick with it, then I am much more confident that they will win the title.”

You could argue that Jota is the most clinical finisher we have at the club. He is lethal inside the box and always seems to be in the right place at the right time.
He has had injury problems during his time on Merseyside, but we believe we are a much stronger team when he is in the starting XI.
We have numerous options at the top of the pitch, which means that sometimes he will have to settle for a place on the bench, but that is a good problem for our German tactician.
Some fans were surprised to see him included in the squad for our trip to Turf Moor, but it was brilliant to see him among the goals again and he will be keen to get more minutes under his belt when we host Newcastle at Anfield in the New Year. Day.
Jota is averaging a goal every two games this season with nine in 18 outings (in all competitions), so let’s hope he can stay fit for the rest of the campaign while we aim to get some silverware.
