Player ratings: Cadiz 4-2 Man United – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United lost 4-2 to Cádiz in a friendly in Spain tonight. All 10 outfield players were changed at halftime. In the first part, the defense was weak but there were good actions up front from Iqbal, Garnacho and Martial. The youngsters in the second half defended very well and were unlucky enough to concede two goals, the first being clearly offside and the second being a midfield error.

Here are our player ratings for the game:

(A score of 6 is around average.)

Martin Dubravka 5 – Although the goals weren’t his fault, he couldn’t dominate the defense. He unleashed a single cross in the second half.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 3.5 – If this was an opportunity to change ten Hag’s mind about him, he didn’t take it. A poor performance riddled with his old positional blunders.

Teden Mengi 4 – He did slightly better than Wan-bissaka.

Victor Lindelof 5.5 – He didn’t seem comfortable with Mengi, but that may not have been his fault.

Brandon Williams 6 – Probably United’s best defender of the night, but that’s not saying much.

Scott McTominay 5 – Anonymous and invisible apart from a good header from clearance in the first half.

Zidane Iqbal 6.5 – He was also anonymous and invisible beyond the excellent run that won United’s penalty.

Anthony Elanga 2 – Totally ineffective and lacking in confidence. You need a loan.

Donny van de Beek 4 – Poor. Another wasted opportunity to impress.

Alejandro Garnacho 6 – Started off brilliantly but then had no serve and fizzled out.

Anthony Martial 7.5 – He seemed a class apart from the rest of the team. He dispatched the penalty coldly.

substitutes

Di’Shon Bernard 8 – The central defender’s performances in the second half were well above those of the first.

Tyler Fredricson 8 – He also defended well. Despite conceding two goals, this centre-back partnership looked solid.

Sam Murray 7 – You can be proud of your performance.

Marc Jurado 7 – Did well.

Noah Emeran 6.5 – Started out bright but fizzled out.

Charlie Savage 5 – He did well, but lost possession of the fourth goal.

Isaac Hansen-Aaroen 6 – A bit disappointing given all the hype about this guy.

Shola Shoretire 6 – Also a bit disappointing.

Kobbie Mainoo 7.5 – Probably United’s brightest second-half spark. If he hadn’t tried too hard on penalties, he could have made something happen.

Charlie McNeill 6 – Had little impact.
