WBC #2 lightweight Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (24-2-1, 17KO) took a sacrificial lamb at WBC #4 super featherweight Eduardo Ramirez (27-3-3, 12KO) and he did not disappoint. with a second destruction of Ramirez in a WBC lightweight title eliminator. Ramirez was on his bike in the first round with Cruz in hot pursuit. In the second round, it wasn’t long before Cruz landed a hard-hitting left hook that dropped Ramirez hard to the canvas. The referee stared at Ramírez before allowing him to continue. Moments later, Cruz landed an even more punishing left hook, right cross, and left hook combination to drop Ramirez again and the referee immediately stopped the fight without a count. Stoppage time was 2:27 of the second round.
Despite becoming a mandatory for WBC (and undisputed) world champion Devin Haney, PBC appears to instead push Cruz into a rematch with “regular” WBA champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis. With Davis’s presence and the cameras focused on him, the easily addressed crowd yelled “We want Davis!!”
