In September 2021, Pelé was found to be suffering from colon cancer. He then removed the tumor from his colon. However, there was an internal spread of the tumor. Thereafter he underwent regular treatments. Now, for three weeks, he has been hospitalized in Sao Paulo.
His medical reports say that his cancer has advanced and is now more serious. He must be taken special care of. Since the report, doctors have advised him to remain in hospital for further treatment. He is treated for heart and kidney dysfunction. He has also been treated for a respiratory infection.
Pelé was an extraordinary footballer for Brazil. He scored 77 goals for the national team and earned multiple accolades.

There was a thought going around that the champion was close to death. Many tributes have been paid to the World Cup venue, Qatar. Consequently, the Brazilian team expressed their support from the grounds of Qatar with a banner that read ‘PELE’.
Right after their tributes, Pelé’s daughter cleared the clouds and said that her father continues to support Brazil and that his illness could not stop his love for the nation and the team.
