Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has tried to explain the reason for Cristiano Ronaldo’s behavior against Tottenham.
In the dying embers of the game, while United were at cruise control and finishing the game, Ronaldo bolted down the tunnel to the changing rooms.
Ronaldo resorted to the act, apparently in protest against Erik ten Hag after the coach snubbed him and failed to introduce him during the game.
With just minutes on the clock, Ten Hag opted to bring in Anthony Elanga and Christian Eriksen instead of the 37-year-old.
Speaking via Amazon Prime Video Sport, Evra said the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could have gone for treatment.
“Maybe Cristiano told Ten Hag that I need to do some treatment or whatever, so I’ll go in.”
“I want to focus more on United’s performance. We have to stop talking about Cristiano every day”.

Evra’s sentiments were echoed by Arsenal legend Thiery Henry, who agreed that Ronaldo could have taken the headline of the brilliant victory and assigned it all to himself.
Beyond Ronaldo, Evra praised the Red Devils for their courageous performance against The Lily Whites.
In classic Evra fashion, he commented: “I don’t know if he will be able to use his hands after this game. It must be so hot right now.
Lloris’s comment is about the multiple saves the French goalkeeper had to make to keep the score decent.
Regarding his man of the match, Evra gave this award to Diogo Dalot.
