Paris St-Germain eyeing shock £30m transfer for Manchester United’s Fred – Man United News And Transfer News

French champions Paris St-Germain are interested in the transfer of midfielder Fred from Manchester United.

Fred is one of the players who recently had one-year extension clauses in their contracts brought about by the club, and United are not about to lose the Brazilian for free.

However, this has not deterred PSG from going after Fred, who they see as a perfect target in their efforts to reinforce the engine room in the middle of the park.

The Sun reports: “Fred is a shocking name on Paris Saint-Germain’s hit list, despite Manchester United triggering a 12-month extension on his contract.”

“United wouldn’t consider doing business for less than £30m, but that fee certainly won’t put off the mega-rich PSG.”

“The chance to join fellow internationals Neymar and Marquinhos in the French capital is sure to appeal to a man who has struggled to get a regular job at Old Trafford.”

The Sun adds that despite his struggles to hold down a regular starting spot, Erik ten Hag remains a huge fan of Fred.

Ten Hag has been impressed by Fred’s passion, drive and work ethic, even when he has not been involved in any significant way, and the Dutch manager prefers a midfield pivot in Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

According to The Sun, Fred is aware of his situation at Old Trafford.

The Brazil international knows he turns 30 in March and will have a better chance of being a regular headline at the Parque de los Princes compared to the Theater of Dreams.

PSG have taken this path before: sign a United midfielder and then make him a mainstay in France.

In 2019 they signed Ander Herrera as a free agent. This time, however, they may have to shell out the money and meet United’s asking price.
