While this year was mostly characterized by disappointing performances, there were a few instances where brilliant individual performances from Juventus players were witnessed.
So let’s look back at the five best starts for the Bianconeri stars throughout 2022.
5. Moise Kean vs. Lazio (November 13)
Overall it was a difficult year for Moise Kean, whose problems on the pitch and his inability to reach second gear symbolized the difficulties the club went through in general. However, the striker enjoyed a positive run just before the winter break, apparently saving the best for last.
In the Old Lady’s final official match of the year, the Italian broke a tie against Lazio with a hot air balloon before doubling the lead by grabbing the rebound, all while looking like a man possessed.
4. Danilo vs Atalanta (February 13)
It is not always the strikers who steal the limelight. Danilo put in a memorable performance in Bergamo when Max Allegri gave him the nod ahead of Leonardo Bonucci in the heart of the defence.
The Brazil international looked incredibly solid, making a slew of well-timed interceptions, before coming from behind to score an equalizer in added time and save a point for the Bianconeri.
3. Dusan Vlahovic vs. Empoli (February 26)
Today, Dusan Vlahovic seemed low on confidence as he remains far from peak fitness. However, the Serb showed his true potential during his first few months in Turin, including a stellar display at Empoli.
The 22-year-old scored two fabulous goals against the Azzurri en route to Juventus’ 3-2 win on Tuscan soil.
2. Ángel Di María vs. Maccabi Haifa (October 5)
Unfortunately for the player and the club, Ángel Di María’s injuries have prevented him from consistently displaying his prowess. However, he managed to deliver a couple of superb performances, including one against Maccabi Haifa, where he starred as the main character with a trio of marvelous assists (two for Adrien Rabiot and one for Vlahovic).
Surprisingly, this was the Bianconeri’s only Champions League win in 2022.
1. Filip Kostic vs. Inter (November 6)
Although it took Filip Kostic a while to make the leap in Turin, the winger has become a true mainstay in Allegri’s formation, and his performance in the Derby d’Italia remains the great performance of his first few months at Juventus.
Allegri’s men managed to survive an early onslaught to clinch a much-anticipated second-half win over Inter, and it was largely thanks to the Serb’s heroics. The 30-year-old created the opening goal almost out of nowhere with an impressive run and an assist for Rabiot, before leveling Fagioli for the second.
The great occasion and the importance of the victory are additional reasons to place Kostic in the first place.
