Former Benfica and Portugal star Nuno Gomes is expecting an interesting game when the Portuguese side take on Juventus in the Champions League tonight.
The Bianconeri have had a slump in form in recent weeks and are keen to win that game and turn things around.
Benfica have had a much better start this term and beat Maccabi Haifa in their first UCL group match.
One of Juve’s best performances this season was their second-half performance against PSG, but they couldn’t build on that against Salernitana.
This game offers them the opportunity to do so, and we hope they will make Benfica suffer.
However, Gomes is struggling to pick a winner and is hoping for a close encounter between the two clubs.
He said, as quoted by Tuttojuve:
“He is not doing well, but Juventus is always Juventus. They have very good players. They haven’t managed to play convincing football so far, but they are still very, very competitive. It’s a very open challenge.”
Juve FC says
Beating Benfica won’t be easy, but we’re still one of the best clubs in the world and we come alive on Champions nights.
Our players already know that they are behind PSG in the race for first place in the group, and we cannot allow Benfica to take second place.
