Enzo Fernández seems destined for the Premier League if the latest batch of reports is to be believed.
Now that trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano is weighing in on the matter on Twitter, it looks like Liverpool could miss out on the World Cup winner with Chelsea firmly in the lead for his signing before the January window opens.
Chelsea is now in direct talks with Benfica for Enzo Fernández. Chelsea want to offer a huge fee instead of paying the release clause in a fix ???????? #CFC
Benfica always asked for a full clause of 120 million euros. Understand that Enzo already said yes to Chelsea. #LFC or #MUFC did not make any offers, as of now. pic.twitter.com/Kdvz5Eargi

For our part, we knew that getting both Jude Bellingham and Fernandez out would have been quite the feat, even for our star-studded recruiting team.
The possibility is not over yet, though there is no doubt that Romano’s involvement in the story deals a blow to our hopes of landing a dream duo of midfield additions in the next two transfer windows.
That’s not to belittle the potential individual signing of the 19-year-old sensation from Borussia Dortmund in any way, shape, or form, of course, given the Englishman’s brilliance in midfield.
