Guwahati, Assam is home to the NorthEast United FC football team. Along with players from other countries, the lineup includes many Assamese players from Guwahati. They will take part in the fourth iteration of the Indian Super League (ISL).
Although it is mainly located in Guwahati, Assam, it states that it speaks of eight Indian states known collectively as North East India. Those eight states are Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Mizoram.
The team is owned by Bollywood actor John Abraham, and Joo Carlos Pires from Deus is the head coach. North East United FC (NEUFC) have a history of being one of the most erratic teams in the prestigious Indian Super League (ISL).
The Highlanders are eager to compete at their best this ISL season because they have yet to claim an ISL championship. The Highlanders’ 2022 Durand Cup campaign was miserable. They suffered three consecutive losses, which severely damaged their campaign.
They won one game in the end, which put them in fourth place in the group stage, ahead of Sudeva Delhi. Marco Balbul’s ISL 2022-23 squad has not been extremely active in the transfer market. The team is virtually unchanged from the previous iteration, except for a few notable additions. On October 8, at the Shree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, North East United will face Sunil Chhetri’s Bengaluru FC.
