Nigel Benn Doubts Chris Eubank Jr. Will Be 60% For Conor Fight

By Barry Holbrook: Nigel Benn doesn’t buy what Chris Eubank Jr. is saying about his plans to take part in the Oct. 8 fight against Conor Benn at 60% capacity at London’s O2 Arena.

Nigel believes Eubank Jr (32-2, 23 KOs) is training hard for the 157-pound catchweight bout with Conor (21-0, 14 KOs), which will air on DAZN pay-per-view.

Eubank Jr. is likely talking about going into the fight at 60% so he’ll have an excuse to tell the boxing public if he loses or looks bad winning.

Eubank Jr, 32, who some see as a loser, will look bad if he loses to welterweight Benn because he has the experience and size advantage over the 25-year-old.

“The fight is as big as it is because of the legacy,” Conor Benn told iFL TV of his Oct. 8 fight against Chris Eubank Jr.

“For me, Conor’s career is really just starting now, and I love how it’s going because the dedication, the determination, the will to win, he has it all,” said Nigel Benn.

“No, because that’s how Conor has done it. He’s treating it like any other fight, and the training hasn’t changed because he’s always training hard anyway. He didn’t have to change anything.

“Now, he is more mature than in the last two fights. He just grew up. He’s[EubankJralotlikehisoldmanisn’the?He’sgottodosomethingdifferentIfhefeelsthathehastotrain60%moreforhimbecauseIknowConorisgoingtocomein100%[EubankJrmuyparecidoasupadre¿no?TienequehaceralgodiferenteSisientequetienequeentrenaral60%másparaélporqueséqueConorvaaestaral100%[EubankJralotlikehisoldmanisn’the?He’sgottodosomethingdifferentIfhefeelshe’sgottotrain60%moreforhimbecauseIknowConorisgoingtocomein100%

“I don’t think it’s getting to 60%. He will be training hard; I know that. To be honest with you, we’re not even thinking about him. He has done the fighting, he has done the running,” said Nigel.

“He talks about experience and great occasions and that he has been there. He’s trying to handle me like an old man and all that,” Conor Benn said of Eubank Jr.

“Listen, everybody, I’ve fought and I’ve had more experience. Algieri had fought Pacquiao and Spence on big occasions and big fights. Everyone I’m going to fight from now on will have more experience.

“What am I supposed to do then? Keep fighting the same people I’ve been fighting? When I fight for a world title next year, they will have more experience,” Benn said.
