Newcastle United using Saudi trip to secure sponsorship deals

According to John Wenham, Newcastle United are using their trip to Saudi Arabia to get “massive” sponsorship deals from the Gulf nation.

With the Premier League being postponed due to the World Cup, Newcastle are currently in Saudi Arabia for a hot-weather training camp.

The Magpies had only five players who played in Qatar, so they had the pleasure of traveling with a nearly full squad to the Middle East where they defeated Al-Hilal 5-0.

“It makes sense from a business standpoint, I’m sure it’s a business decision,

“They are trying to attract new fans by using colors that they are familiar with and identify with. There’s a swarm of fans out there.

“We know they’re trying to secure various sponsorships right now, big naming rights, a big jersey sponsor, maybe something for training camp.

“Going to Saudi Arabia on a Saudi Arabian plane in Saudi Arabian colors can only endear the club to anyone looking to invest,” Wenham told Football Insider.
