Newcastle plan to offer key star new contract states Fabrizio Romano

Newcastle United will offer Bruno Guimaraes a new contract to fend off any possible interest that may come his way in the future.

The Brazilian has become a key player for Eddie Howe since joining the club in January and has already become a favorite among the St. James’ Park faithful.

Guimaraes has started the season in good form, despite his campaign being interrupted by injury, but there were no signs of that affecting the 24-year-old last time out against Brentford, where the midfielder scored twice.

Fabrizio Romano now reports that Newcastle plan to offer Guimaraes a new contract, which will likely reward him for the impact he has made at St. James’ Park over the last nine months.

Speaking ahead of Newcastle’s clash with Manchester United on Sunday, manager Eddie Howe said of Guimaraes via the Daily Mail: “We desperately want Bruno to be happy here, enjoy his football and have a long-term vision.”

‘We want to form a team. We’re in the early stages of that, so we don’t want to disrupt the group that we have, we want to add quality, that’s the goal.

But Bruno has done incredibly well. He has fit in really well and epitomized the team spirit and drive we need to succeed.”

If he stays at Newcastle, Guimaraes is likely to make the Magpies team develop around him and be instrumental in their rise up the Premier League table.

There will certainly be interest from other clubs, if the 24-year-old continues to perform at the level he currently is, but it will probably depend on how quickly the Tyneside club progress in the coming seasons whether or not he leaves.
