Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic could make a surprise return to the Premier League with Fulham.
This is stated by the Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who affirms that he will leave French club Rennes for personal reasons, after having signed for Rennes in the summer.
The Ligue 1 team is said to have promised the Serbian midfielder that they would enroll his children in a branch of the international school they attended, but it turns out that there is no such branch in the French city.
It was reported that he had fallen out with the club over this and also did not show up for the team’s final training sessions. However, the player himself clarified the situation on social networks, explaining that it was a mistake on his part.
He stated (as reported by Di Marzio):
“Unfortunately, due to a mistake on my part, I was not able to adapt my private affairs to professional ones. I was not able to enroll the children who had attended the international school since the beginning of their studies. For this reason I have been absent for the last few years. “Three days to try to solve this big problem for me and my family and tomorrow I will return to Rennes where I will decide the next steps together with the club.”
