Neil Jones shares transfer truth on Konrad Laimer move & Jurgen Klopp suspicion

Neil Jones claimed that Jurgen Klopp was likely referring to Konrad Laimer and not Aurelien Tchouameni when he discussed a transfer target before the window closed.

The Merseysiders had been interested in the RB Leipzig star late in the window, although they fell short of completing a deal for the 25-year-old.

“I think it was Konrad Laimer he was talking about. I reported that the day before the window closed, Liverpool had given up on Laimer. He checked a lot of boxes,” the reporter told Redmen TV (via HITC).

“He had one year left on his contract, so everything was incorporated into this. I don’t think he was the number one, two or three target in the summer, but as it unfolded they thought it might be a nice little deal and a deal that works and may have been cheap enough to justify it.

“His agent had a relationship with Keita and Mane, so there were a lot of parts, but the feeling was that Leipzig wasn’t after selling him and the player himself had decided to fulfill his contract and join Bayern next summer.”

The lack of midfield reinforcements beyond Arthur Melo’s loan has understandably left a number of Liverpool fans uneasy with the state of our mid-park options.

Having said all that, it is clear that the recruiting team made a concerted effort to find a quality addition in midfield – the extent to which is debatable depending on reports we are to believe – with moves made for Tchouameni and inquiries. sent to Borussia Dortmund for Jude. Bellingham.

Such is the small pool of options that Klopp is prepared to see enter the club that it looks like we are putting all our eggs in one basket.

We will not begrudge the German tactician who only wants the best, of course, particularly in light of the current struggles we face in that department.
