Napoli do not want to part with Manchester United target Victor Osimhen in January – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are interested in signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli, but they may have to wait until the summer to secure the striker.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who previously tweeted the following:

“X News #Osimhen: The 23-year-old forward is one of the main candidates to replace Ronaldo. Bosses convinced that he could improve #MUFC!

“Problem: Neapel doesn’t want to let him go in winter. Regardless of euros. United do not want to pay 100 million euros! There are no negotiations yet.”

Given Napoli’s fantastic start to the season, it is perfectly understandable that they would not want to be without their star striker for the second half of the campaign.

The Gli Azzuri sit at the top of the Serie A table, eight points above second-placed AC Milan, with fifteen games played.

Their exciting, youthful attacking unit has been a big part of their strong start and Osimhen has been a key contributor.

The Nigerian tops the scoring table with nine goals and has also provided two assists in his eleven games this season.

In all competitions, Napoli are unbeaten in all but one game, a trip to Anfield, when Osimhen has featured.

His ability to take on the responsibilities of a centre-forward and give defenders not a moment’s peace make him an ideal candidate for the striker role at Manchester United.

And with the Red Devils lacking in firepower this season and only having one renowned forward on their squad (a generally unfit Anthony Martial), the position is of great importance to the club’s signing plans.

While the club will need to replace Cristiano Ronaldo’s position in the squad in the winter, Erik ten Hag may have to settle for a provisional option before he has a chance to land Osimhen in the summer.

However, with Napoli already looking for replacements for their number nine, there are plenty of reasons for optimism.
