Liverpool’s 24-man squad for the Champions League group stage has been confirmed, but neither Naby Keita nor Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been named.
The Reds begin their European campaign on Wednesday, with a trip to Napoli for their first game in Group A, followed by games against Ajax and Rangers.
Jurgen Klopp led his side to another final last season, only to end up heartbroken in Paris and now the Reds must lay the groundwork for another shot at the European Cup.
The club were due to name their group stage squad by midnight on September 2, and the Reds have named 24 players to the A List, and that includes new midfielder Arthur.
List B names (players under the age of 21 with at least two years of training with the club) are unlimited and can be confirmed by midnight before any match.
Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are two players who will take a spot on List B.
Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho will make their Champions League debuts for the club next season, while Calvin Ramsay and Stefan Bajcetic will have similar hopes.
Notably, neither Oxlade-Chamberlain nor Keita have been named in the 24-man squad as they continue to battle muscle injuries and, in Klopp’s words, will be out “for a while”.
The group stage will run until early November and the pair’s absence is a huge indication that a comeback isn’t in the works for several months yet.
