His consistent performances at Zilina made him a hot prospect in the market. Ultimately, Škriniar was signed by the Italian club Sampdoria. Škriniar spent a season and a half with the club and then signed for Serie A giants Inter Milan for five years.

Since joining Milan in 2017, Škriniar has been one of the most important players in the squad. With the instant impact of him, Inter Milan returned to the UEFA Champions League after six years. The Slovakian defender went on to win all the Italian domestic trophies, Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercopa Italiana with the Nerrzauri and established himself as one of the best defenders in the world.

PSG Transfer News: Milan Škriniar talks about his future

In an interview with the Italian broadcaster SportMediaSet, Milan Škriniar has spoken about the delicate situation of his contract.

Škriniar only has one year left on his contract and has reportedly been approached by a number of clubs, including Premier League side Chelsea, in the previous transfer window.

However, it was defending Ligue 1 champions PSG who came closest to landing the Slovakian captain this summer.

PSG had a lot of interest in the Slovakian star. They were willing to spend a lot on him but were unwilling to match his release clause worth €80m. They expected Inter to lower their price, which the Nerazzurri never did. So the transfer deal fell through and Škriniar has stayed at Inter for the time being.

Now, with the possibility of Škriniar leaving for free next summer, Inter are in a hurry to extend his contract.

When asked about this delicate situation, the Slovakian said: “I never talk about my contract here in public. It’s not the right place to discuss it.”
