Mikey Garcia: GGG Will Try F—— Hardest To Get KO, But I Think Canelo Wins

Former four-division world champion Mikey Garcia backs IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in the upcoming trilogy fight with Gennady Golovkin.

The two rivals will collide on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo is coming off a twelve round decision loss to WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. The fight, which took place in May, was Canelo’s first loss since 2013.

Golovkin, 40, the holder of the IBF, WBA and IBO middleweight belts, will move up to 168 pounds to challenge Canelo for his undisputed crown.

Garcia doesn’t see size as a factor, but he expects age to play a role in the outcome.

“I think it’s a good fight, but I think Canelo takes it. They know each other very well. That doesn’t play too much because they’ve already fought twice,” Garcia told Fighthype.com.

“Canelo has fought in a higher weight class, but he is not a big guy naturally. He also started out much smaller, so he won’t play too much of a role. I just think Canelo is at a better age and career point against Golovkin. It’s a good fight. Golovkin is going to do everything he can to f——- get him out, but I think Canelo wins.”

They first met in September 2017, with the contest ending in a controversial draw divided into twelve rounds. A year later, Canelo raised his hand with a close twelve-round majority decision.

Both contests were held at the 160-pound middleweight limit. Golovkin has spent his entire career at middleweight. Canelo, on the other hand, started out as a welterweight but has captured world titles at junior middleweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight.
