During last Saturday’s Michigan Wolverines victory over Penn State, there was a minor fight in the tunnel. On Monday, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh blamed opponent head coach James Franklin for causing the halftime dispute.

Harbaugh calls Franklin

Michigan defeated Penn State a week ago on Saturday, but today during his press conference Jim Harbaugh took a brief look at the halftime antics.

“As you saw, quite clearly, that [PSU players] completely stopped.” Harbaugh said. They wouldn’t let us go up the tunnel. And it seemed like a sophomore ploy to try to keep us out of our locker rooms. Y [James Franklin] it seemed that he was the ringleader of the whole thing.”

In his postgame news conference, Franklin had said he didn’t think teams should leave the field at the same time to get to their locker rooms.

“All there has to be is a two minute or minute buffer between the two teams,” Franklin said at that news conference. “This team is in before that team gets close and however we want to do it. But we are not the first team that has had problems like that. For me, under the current structure, we will not be the last.”

Obviously, Coach Harbaugh disagrees, insisting the blame rests solely with Penn State and James Franklin.

food fight

There were no reports of altercations of a physical nature during the mini-fight. However, there were some reports after the game that some sandwiches had been thrown at Wolverines players.

“They didn’t throw a sandwich at me, but RJ [Moten] He came up to me and said, ‘I just got hit in the face with a PB&J,’” Michigan lineman Trevor Keegan said after the game. “So, I guess they were. I didn’t see that, but that’s what he told me.”

Michigan hosts Michigan State on Saturday in what is sure to be another hot topic.
