Michail Antonio laments at “frustratingly unbelievable” David de Gea for West Ham heroics – Man United News And Transfer News

West Ham striker Michail Antonio has said he is frustrated with Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

De Gea was excellent in goal on Sunday against West Ham, where a series of last-minute saves ensured United secured all three points in a 1-0 win against the Hammers.

The Spaniard made three eye-catching saves to deny West Ham a share of the points.

He denied Kurt Zouma from close range, Antonio himself and towards the end Declan Rice, whose ferocious shot was saved by a diving De Gea.

Speaking to The Footballer’s Football podcast, Antonio reflected on Sunday’s loss and singled out De Gea as the standout player.

He said: “De Gea, argh. It’s very frustrating. Some of the stops he’s been making are amazing! He’s done that to us for the last three years we’ve been up there. We have had many opportunities and he has just decided to show up to our games. It was amazing.”

“De Gea, in recent years, playing against him, has taken a few worlds out of me. There are a few games where he’s done this to me and it’s really bugging me, I’m not going to lie!”

Antonio pointed to another game besides the one on Sunday in which the United goalkeeper was imperious against him.

The Jamaican international narrated a contest during confinement in which De Gea saved three clear chances against him.

One, according to Antonio, was a header with the stick behind that the 31-year-old goalkeeper saved.

The second came when the West Ham striker fired a left-footed shot into a high angle. To his dismay, De Gea made a fingertip save to get the ball out.

The third and last was from close range, five meters from the goal when Antonio hit the ball to the left of De Gea, who still managed to put something in and avoid the goal.

This is not new to United fans who were already aware of De Gea’s brilliant ability to stop shots and produce world-class saves popularly known around the world as “Save Dave”.
