Mattia Perin hoping for a callup from Italian national teamJuvefc.com

Amidst Wojciech Szczesny’s injury woes, Mattia Perin rose to the occasion and has been putting in some solid displays for Juventus.

The goalkeeper conceded just one goal in his four Serie A outings. In his last league appearance, he salvaged a point in Florence after saving a Luka Jovic penalty.

The 29-year-old also impressed on the European stage, despite conceding two early goals courtesy of Kylian Mbappe. The custodian made a number of good saves to keep the Old Lady’s hopes up against Paris Saint Germain.

Unfortunately, the French emerged victorious with a 2-1 result, and the Italian insists that Juventus should never be satisfied with a defeat.

“It’s still a loss. We cannot be satisfied with the result,” said the former Genoa player in his post-match interview with Sportitalia via JuventusNews24.

“It has to serve as a lesson. We know where we have to improve, in the somewhat submissive attitude that we had in the first half, and start again with the awareness of the good things done in the second half”.

After his positive streak, Perin admitted that he still hopes to return to the Italian team.

“Who does not think about the selection? The doors have always been open, I always hope so, but there is a coach who decides and I respect his choices”.
