Mason Greenwood still dropped by Nike – Man United News And Transfer News

Nike has confirmed that they no longer work in partnership with Mason Greenwood.

As reported in The Mirror, the global sports brand has decided not to reconsider its sponsorship of Greenwood, despite charges against the footballer now being dropped.

The Manchester United striker has re-added Nike to his Instagram account but the clothing manufacturer has reaffirmed its stance regarding its relationship with the player.

“Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete.” he read the statement from him.

Despite the charges against him being dropped, Greenwood is currently suspended by the club, which is conducting internal investigations.

The striker was due to stand trial on one count of attempted rape, one count of assault and repeated engagement in controlling and coercive behavior.

With charges now dropped due to ‘key witness withdrawal’ and ‘new material coming to light’, United now face a dilemma of what to do with a player who had the world at his feet.

Without a valid legal reason to terminate Greenwood’s contract, they will either have to pay him out for the remainder of his contract which runs until 2025, or sell the player, if they do not want him to play for the club again.

Alternatively, they can welcome you to Greenwood and reinstate you to the team.

The decision is something of a grenade thrown into the lap of Erik ten Hag, who will follow the club’s lead with United performing very well under his leadership.

If United decide to give Greenwood another chance, the reaction will be loud and clear not only from rival fans, but also from many sections of United supporters.

Greenwood issued a statement thanking her family for their support and sharing her relief that the matter has been legally resolved.

“I am relieved that this matter is over. I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support,” she said.

Greenwood has scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for United but faces a long road back in a career that held much promise.
