Martin Dubravka unlikely to displace David de Gea during Manchester United loan spell – Man United News And Transfer News

Martin Dubravka is unlikely to displace David de Gea after the goalkeeper arrived at the club at the end of the transfer window on loan from Newcastle United.

Dean Henderson left the club on a season-long loan to Nottingham Forest of the Premier League.

He was met with some criticism from Man United fans who believe the Englishman could displace De Gea.

However, it has been an on-and-off career at Red for Henderson, who was always interested in starting a World Cup season.

With this departure, Dubravka was loaned out to the club by Newcastle United after it became clear that Tom Heaton would not be a good choice as a substitute going into this season.

According to The Athletic, in an article written by Laurie Whitwell, United originally thought Heaton could be promoted to a backup option rather than a third option.

However, Erik ten Hag pushed the board for more goalkeeper depth after a disappointing start to the season for David de Gea.

A couple of mistakes in early Premier League matches highlighted the difficult form the Spaniard finds himself in at times.

This alerted the United board to increase the transfer budget of the goalkeeping department to try to find a solution.

The outlet points out that the Slovakia international is not very good with his feet and that his career has been based on stopping shots.

He did not participate in the important Europa League match against Real Sociedad, as De Gea is seen as a clear favorite for this type of match.

It is currently unclear if United’s number 2 will play a role in European matches or if he will only feature in cup competitions.

However, De Gea spoke at the last press conference of the match against Sheriff and is expected to start as Dubravka did not travel.

He also seems unlikely to displace De Gea this season after being overlooked in continental competitions.

Dubravka’s arrival in Manchester isn’t free either, with the club paying a £2m loan fee to Newcastle.
