Jesse Marsch has admitted his Leeds United side will be looking to hit Liverpool on the counterattack when they travel to Anfield on Saturday night.
The Elland Road team fell into the bottom three last weekend and are in dire need of a win as the American boss has received a fair amount of criticism from some supporters in recent weeks.
The former RB Leipzig manager knows his side must execute their game plan if they are to gain anything from the clash with the FA Cup champions, stressing the need to defend well against Liverpool’s set pieces.
“The weaknesses in Liverpool…[Laughs]. It’s not that we see a weakness in them, it’s if we can challenge them in the intensity with which we play and with the ball we can limit them as much as possible,” Marsch explained (via Rousing The Kop). “Can we limit them on set plays where they’ve been incredibly effective, and can’t we just let them go to the counter and can we find more situations where we can go to the counter?
“Both teams like to play against each other and they are one of the deadliest in the world at that. I wouldn’t describe Liverpool as having a weakness, I would try to say we will have a game plan and try to stick to it. We will try to execute it the best we can to give ourselves the best chance in the match.”

Leeds have just nine points from their opening 11 league games and are winless in their last eight.
However, the Yorkshire outfit will be hopeful in Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 loss to the Reds last weekend, and will be looking to cause another big upset.
However, we are fresh from a solid 3-0 Champions League win over Ajax on Wednesday and need to put together a run of decent results before the World Cup kicks off next month.
Marsch is right to point out that we have been ‘incredibly effective’ from set pieces this season and that Darwin Nunez’s goal in Amsterdam came courtesy of an Andy Robertson corner.
With Núñez, Bobby Firmino and Virgil van Dijk we have great headers and we have used that to our advantage this season.
Let’s hope for a good performance against Leeds to ensure we get another huge three points.
