Manchester United are working hard to extend the contracts of some of their stars, whose deals expire at the end of the season.
Some of these stars include David de Gea, Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, and Fred.
For most of these players, the club will activate the one-year extension clauses in their contracts to avoid a situation where they leave with nothing at the end of the season.
Yesterday it was learned that Erik ten Hag is not particularly interested in activating this clause in De Gea’s contract with the Dutch coach open to the arrival of a new number one during the summer.
One player who could be up for a big deal sooner rather than later is Rashford.
“A few days ago, Ten Hag confirmed that the club would exercise their option to keep Rashford at Old Trafford for another year while they look to give him a new contract.
This came after Paris Saint Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi confirmed that the French giants are fans of Rashford and will explore a transfer for him when the summer window opens.
The Daily Star reports: “Marcus Rashford will become Manchester United’s top earner if he agrees to stay long term. Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain are increasing their interest in Rashford as doubts about his future grow.
“The 25-year-old local United star has refused to sign a new £300,000 a week contract on the table at Old Trafford. Now the Reds hierarchy is preparing to increase that offer to a whopping £400,000 a week.”
“That basic salary would automatically propel Rashford to the top of the club’s wage bill.”
At £400,000 a week, Rashford would bypass De Gea, who earns £25,000 less.
United’s mega-deal offer for Rashford stems from Ten Hag’s eagerness to keep the Englishman for the long term and have him be the face of his rebuild at United.
