Manchester United beat third division Newcastle 5-0 in the FA Cup yesterday when four different players met on the scoresheet.
Ella Toone opened the scoring with a wonder goal before assisting Parris’ first goal.
In the second half, Parris scored a second before substitutes Rachel Williams and Melvine Malard put the game to bed.
Manager Marc Skinner told reporters: “I’m very happy with our depth up front, we have different types of goal scorers.”
He continued: “Whether it’s the threat of Guerrero, the unpredictability of Melvine, the unpredictability of Geyse, you see a directness when Leah comes into the game and that’s not even mentioning Keets, who scored two goals today. So I’m happy.”
Skinner’s team was ruthless forward once they made that initial breakthrough and never took their foot off the gas.
“Maybe there is a bit of relaxation, but I don’t think a coach stops until the final whistle. There’s always this idea that they have half a chance and they could get something out of this game,” Skinner said.
Rachel Williams has a habit of coming off the bench and scoring, but while looking for United’s fourth of the game she hit the crossbar.
The rebound fell to her and she wasn’t wrong the second time she asked.
“How many players do you know who can hit the crossbar one, two and still score a goal?” Skinner smiled. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a goal like that in my life.”
Although Newcastle were limited going forward, Skinner praised both their defense and forward line.
He said: “I think we were professional today, the defenders did a lot of work which made me feel good about the game.”
United will return to WSL action next weekend when they travel to Chelsea, a team they have yet to beat.
Skinner referred to the next task and said: “We have to demonstrate our maturity. It’s the mentality against Chelsea, they have quality players, but so do we.”
