Manchester United valuation climbs to $5.95 billion

Manchester United is now worth $5.95 billion according to Sportico. The publication has also ranked all 20 Premier League clubs, but the Red Devils are once again at the top of the rankings. United previously held the top spot in the latest media valuation ranking in 2021.

In addition to maintaining its number one ranking, Manchester United’s valuation has also increased by 28% in two years. The club’s previous valuation is $4.65 in 2021. In total, Premier League clubs are now worth more than $30 billion collectively according to Sportico.

US investors continue to pump money into PL clubs

Inner Circle Sports co-founder Steve Horowitz helped explain how these numbers continue to accelerate with foreign investors. “With an EPL club, you own a team in the best and most watched soccer league in the world’s favorite sport,” Horowitz told Sportico.

“It’s the draw for US investors and those from all corners of the world.” Horowitz is an investment banker who has been involved with European clubs such as Liverpool, Inter Milan, Crystal Palace and Wrexham.

Manchester United’s valuation is music to the ears of the Glazer family

The Glazer family surely welcomes the news of the valuation. United’s current owners are looking to sell the club and have reportedly been seeking $6 billion for a full sale. This high price has reportedly discouraged buyers from a possible purchase. However, the Glazers could also be open to a minority investment in order to remain at the club.

Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea complete Sportico’s valuation ranking for the Premier League. While United’s 28% jump is impressive, it’s nowhere near the biggest valuation increase in two years in the league.

Newcastle United is now supposed to be worth $440 million. This is a 63% increase in valuation compared to the store’s 2021 figures. Chelsea posted the weakest rise in the ranking with just 4% growth in valuation.
