Manchester United to resume long-term contract talks with Alejandro Garnacho – Man United News And Transfer News

Erik ten Hag has had to fight a lot since he became Manchester United’s new manager. The initial job was to recruit smartly during the summer transfer window.

Having sailed successfully, the Dutchman found himself with a broken squadron full of cliques and a lack of morale. A look at the team now shows a unified group fighting against each other.

Then there was the matter of underperforming stars that the former Ajax boss has rectified. Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot are the best examples of Ten Hag’s work.

Garnacho, the last star of United

Then comes the looming question of contract renewals with many A-listers out of contract next summer. So far, most players have seen the club invoke the one-year extension clause.

But academy star Alejandro Garnacho is out of contract in 2023 and is free to agree a pre-contract deal with other clubs starting today.

The belief is growing that the Argentine wants to stay and has already established himself as a key player in Ten Hag’s plans this season.

The 18-year-old has made a total of 11 appearances for the senior side this campaign, while scoring twice and adding a further two assists.

He called this year “probably the best year of my life” and added that “I feel blessed” – signs that point to a longer stay at Old Trafford.

There have been reports in the past that his salary will increase tenfold once he signs a new contract.

Garnacho talks about a contract to start over

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has indicated that the Red Devils will resume contract talks as soon as possible.

Manchester United will resume talks to extend Alejandro Garnacho’s contract in the coming weeks and months.

“Negotiations have been ongoing for months as Man Utd want Garnacho to be happy with the new long-term deal and salary improvement,” Romano tweeted.

United fans are hoping the club can do what is necessary immediately as they do not want a repeat of the Paul Pogba incident with their latest academy star.
