Manchester United target Josip Juranovic seals surprise switch to Union Berlin – Man United News And Transfer News

Erik ten Hag took the reins at Manchester United and immediately got down to business with the summer transfer window giving him the opportunity to renew the squad.

After a splurge of over £200 million, the backbone of the team was completely upgraded and quite a few gaps in the team were filled as well.

But a substitute right-back was needed after the Dutchman pointed out the number of games Diogo Dalot had to play due to the absence of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

RB priority changed

And the former Crystal Palace defender came close to being sacked in January due to his weakness going forward and his general discomfort with the ball at his feet.

But his post-World Cup resurgence has so impressed the United manager that the club has decided to change its transfer priorities and the right-back position is no longer a concern.

The failure of the Glazers to authorize further funding for permanent transfers also meant that the club was forced to abandon some of their previous targets.

Celtic’s Josip Juranovic was among the full-backs linked with a move to Old Trafford but appears to have joined Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin.

The deal for the 27-year-old will cost the Bundesliga side £10m for his services.

Juranovic to Berlin completed

“Understand that Juranović will undergo medical tests on Sunday. Fixed fee of 8 million euros plus accessories for Celtic. The contract will be valid until June 2027,” transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Twitter.

Both Barcelona and Atlético Madrid were interested in bringing Juranovic to Spain in January, while two Premier League teams were also considering signing the Qatar-starring full-back.

His performances in Qatar, where he helped Croatia to a creditable third-place finish, had many clubs chasing his signature, but now it looks like Union Berlin have won the race.

Ten Hag won’t be too disappointed after the kind of displays Wan-Bissaka has put on recently, while Dalot remains one of the coach’s favourites.
