Manchester United receive significant £18m boost as striker pursuit heats up – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United will be on the market for a striker in the next January transfer window.

With the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, the club’s hand has been forced and although the plans to sign a scorer were relegated until the summer, now a signing must be brought forward.

United has been linked with a large number of names.

At the top of the list is PSV Eindhoven striker Cody Gakpo, who recently said that if the Red Devils called him up, he would consider their offer.

Goncalo Ramos is also on the other list, especially after his heroism with Portugal against Switzerland. A report recently indicated that the Benfica man would cost United more than £100m.

Whichever they decide to pick, United will be boosted in their search for a striker by a £18m windfall.

The Manchester Evening News reports: “United have already forecast they will save £16m in wages that were due to be paid to Ronaldo before the end of the season, but they will no longer have to after the ‘clean break’ deal they reached.

“They will also receive approximately £2 million from the Club Benefits Program, which states that clubs will be able to receive approximately £9,000 for each day a relevant player remains with their national team during the World Cup and the official preparation period for the tournament. . .”

“They [United] he will also get money from the participation of Daniel James and Edinson Cavani due to a rule stating that ‘all clubs a player has played for in the two years preceding the tournament will be compensated’.

James was away with Wales on World Cup duty for 16 days. Cavani spent three more days with Uruguay than James.

For their participation, the 20-time English champions will receive approximately £315,000.

These figures are likely to rise further as several of United’s players progress to the latter stages of the World Cup. As the club has a player in each quarterfinal tie, they are guaranteed representatives in the semifinals.
