Manchester United ready to match Napoli’s asking price for Victor Osimhen – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are the only Premier League club still competing in all four competitions and have just reached their first domestic cup final in six years.

New manager Erik ten Hag has turned the fortunes of the club around after a dismal season last which saw the club finish sixth and break several unwanted records.

From excellence on the pitch to reliving the careers of more than a few disappointing stars, the Dutchman has changed the mood at Old Trafford.

But it hasn’t been easy with the former Ajax manager having to deal with a weak team and the absence of an elite goalscorer after the bitter departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

United ready for summer striker hunt

Wout Weghorst arrived on loan in January, but the move is seen as more of a stopgap and the club have decided to sign someone of a higher caliber next summer.

Lots of high profile names are making the rounds like Harry Kane and Dusan Vlahovic. One of the most frequently linked names is that of Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian is currently the top scorer in Serie A and is in imperious form, having netted 14 times in 16 league appearances and assisting four other goals.

As previously reported by The Peoples Person, Napoli is aware of the interest Osimhen is generating and is open to selling him for a record fee.

Napoli magazine has now revealed that the 24-year-old could cost around €120m and United aren’t afraid to match that valuation to land their man.

Chelsea are also said to be on the hunt, while Paris Saint-Germain has also been heavily linked with the hitman.

Napoli looks for alternatives for Osimhen

And the Serie A leaders are aware of this fact and are therefore looking for alternatives as they prepare for the biggest transfer saga next summer.

While Napoli have categorically denied their interest in young Atalanta striker Rasmus Højlund, they remain interested in Udinese leader Beto.

“Manchester United and Chelsea are not afraid of the amount that Aurelio De Laurentiis will ask for, which is 120 million. If the Nigerian forward goes to the Premier League, Giuntoli and his squad are already working on a couple of profiles.

“Denials about Hojlund, who physically and technically is not considered Osimhen’s heir. In Italy the only center forward followed by Napoli is Beto from Udinese. Ongoing reflections on this situation and the first contacts have already begun with the Friulians,” the report added.
