Manchester United monitoring Leon King says Fabrizio Romano – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are monitoring Leon King and have sent scouts to monitor his performances.

The news was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel earlier today.

King recently played Liverpool in Rangers’ Champions League group stage match at Anfield.

He had an intense night, with four tackles and four clearances, with five land duels won (statistics via SofaScore)

Rangers lost the match 2-0, but the 18-year-old’s performance under difficult circumstances will have done nothing to dampen interest from Premier League clubs.

Along with the Red Devils, Newcastle and Leeds United are also interested at centre-back.

King has impressed at youth level and is poised to get much more involved in the first team this season despite his tender age.

United appear to regard the Scot as one for the future and are monitoring his progress ahead of a possible transfer.

With Ten Hag a bit short on defensive numbers having let the likes of Eric Bailly go over the summer, a move for a talented young centre-half could be astute.

Beyond Raphael Varane and the summer signing of Lisandro Martinez, United’s centre-backs have question marks.

While King is unlikely to break straight into the first team at Old Trafford at this stage of his career, he could be a good prospect to add to the mix as Erik ten Hag looks to build long-term at United.

Whether the club will be looking to move on the Rangers defender early or monitor him for several years is unclear at this point, though King’s own performances may well dictate that.

A strong showing at Liverpool’s visit to Ibrox tomorrow could spark a bidding war for budding talent. United Matchday Magazine – The Ultimate Match Experience Take a seat for the Omonia game. Get instant access to the best United magazine online!
