Manchester United make exciting announcement ahead of Carabao Cup final against Newcastle – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have confirmed that fans attending the Carabao Cup final at Wembley will receive a limited edition scarf each, intended to create a red and white wall to cheer the team against Newcastle.

United have a golden opportunity to end the club’s six-year drought by defeating Newcastle at Wembley.

A victory in the Carabao Cup final would also mark the first feather in Erik ten Hag’s cap in his first season as United manager.

United revealed on the club’s official website that the decision to hand out limited edition scarves was made after ruling against the plastic flags that are normally part of Wembley events.

Scarves are perceived as more collectible and sustainable souvenirs for the thousands of fans expected in the game.

United’s Head of Fan Engagement Rick McGagh said: “Our fans have been brilliant again this season and we saw on Thursday night against Barcelona the role they play in inspiring the team and helping us get through the line in tight games”.

“The manager and the players really value and appreciate their support, so we wanted to take the opportunity to recognize our fans and reward them with something special at Wembley.”

“Let’s hope these scarves provide a lasting memory of another great day in our club’s history as we look to win our first trophy with Erik. We hope the 33,000 fans who traveled to Wembley and all our supporters around the world have a great day on Sunday.”

Whether the handing out of scarves is an act of kindness or a clever trick by the club to drown out acts of protest like wearing green and gold scarves in the presence of Avram Glazer is anyone’s guess.

Earlier today, it was confirmed that Glazer will attend Wembley, only the fourth time he has been in person at a United game since 2019.

No doubt green and gold scarves would have been the order of the day. The 1958 have released plans for a protest against Avram, to show him that only a sellout is acceptable to the fanbase.

United are still competing in all four competitions and players will be heartened in the upcoming games if a trophy can be clinched on Sunday.

The Peoples Person reported that Ten Hag has already ruled out the possibility of an outdoor parade if the Carabao Cup is won.

The Dutchman wants all the attention to shift to Wednesday’s game against West Ham on Wednesday.

Ten Hag will only authorize a parade if a minimum of two trophies are won this season.
