Manchester United eyeing triple raid on Benfica despite humongous release clauses – Man United News And Transfer News

The winter transfer window is officially open and it’s no surprise to see players of all positions linked with Manchester United.

The Red Devils need reinforcements with coach Erik ten Hag publicly confirming his desire to add firepower up front in January.

A club whose players are in constant demand is Benfica. Their highly coveted midfielder, Enzo Fernández, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

His massive €120m buyout clause is beyond the 20-time English league champions at the moment and Chelsea are said to be further along in the race.

United want multiple stars from Benfica

However, it remains to be seen if an agreement can be reached in the winter or if the World Cup winner decides to move in the summer.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo (via Sport Witness) has also revealed that United are eyeing a number of players belonging to the Lisbon giants.

One of the biggest names that has been mentioned as a possible replacement for last season’s top scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, is Goncalo Ramos.

The Portuguese striker grabbed the headlines around the world after his hat-trick at the World Cup.

The Portuguese outlet wrote in its report that Ramos was “one of the first options” mentioned by Ten Hag to “strengthen” his team’s attack after Ronaldo’s departure.

Another prominent name mentioned in the report is centre-back Antonio Silva, whose performances this season have drawn the attention of Europe’s elite teams.

O Jogo mentioned United as one of the interested parties, also stating that Liverpool, Juventus, Napoli and Paris Saint Germain are all seeking a deal for the 19-year-old.

Trio will only leave for a lot of money

However, Benfica are a well-oiled machine and are known for making the most of their spending and any deal for the aforementioned trio is likely to cost the buying team big bucks.

Club president Rui Costa will only let the duo out in January for the price of their release clauses.

For Ramos, the clause is currently €120m, while Silva’s current valuation is €100m.

It is safe to say that the duo will continue to ply their trade for Benfica until the end of the season. Summer could be a bit more interesting.
