Manchester United announce the departure of key man after 16 years at the club

Manchester United have officially announced the departure of club doctor Steve McNally.

McNally joined Manchester United in 2006 and worked with United legend Sir Alex Ferguson for seven years.

One of the few remaining staff members from the Fergie era, McNally has worked with a number of permanent managers since then and has undoubtedly become part of the Carrington training ground furniture.

However, Manchester United have now announced that McNally will leave the club to take up a new role with PGMOL.

Often when managers take over new clubs they will look to bring in a large number of staff from behind the scenes, but McNally has been with the club through thick and thin.

The players will have grown used to McNally being at the club so there is no doubt he will be greatly missed, and Director of Football John Murtough shares this sentiment.

“I would like to thank Steve for everything he has done for our players, colleagues and the club in general. We will continue to benefit from his legacy through the world-class sports and medical sciences infrastructure and the team he has built,” Murtough said.

Hopefully, for Manchester United fans, the infrastructure that McNally has helped build will endure and the next person to step into the role will have a team and a foundation to build on and continue his excellent work.
